Almost Perfect, but still Excellent
"this bag is amazing for work travel. I went from a nice leather briefcase that I’ve used every day for the last 6 years to using this for the daily office commute and work travel. Now, it is a little big - quite long compared to my last which still fit my 16” work laptop - but this one has room to spare on the width after my laptop is in it. When it’s not packed out for travel, it still compress down quite nicely to be pretty thin. My two main improvements I would make: the mesh in the quick access pocket on the front just feels a little cheap, i wish it had the softer and stretchier internal microfiber-esqe fabric found in other high end bags. This would allow me to throw my sunglasses into one of those internal storage pockets and not worry about them getting scratched on the existing mesh. The other would be to make the shoulder strap a bit less tactical and bulky and remove the branding from the buckle, it’s too in your face when im carrying it on my shoulder. It also makes it hard to stow the strap away in the back magnetic opening without making the bag look bulkier. I will say the magnets are almost strong enough to keep the shoulder strap sleeve closed when stowed but only with some adjusting but still increases the width of the bag. When on my roller bag, the SB doesn’t lean forward and splay open the strap sleeve which is what I expect. Still could be a bit more refined. The last complaint is that the pen and phone storage are not quite easy to access as the material on the front is pretty stiff and the internal storage is tucked up under the top portion of the zipper opening. I think if the zipper was just moved higher up it would make accessing everything in this front area much easier. Also I did appreciate that you could take the hand straps off, I switched the side they attached to so the logos were hidden. Overall though, I am very happy with the purchase, hence the 5 stars. I think with a few tweaks it would be the best work travel bag available hands down. However it was a big upgrade in space and storage compared to what I was using and has been fantastic on my last 2-3 day work trips. Would recommend and buy again with no hesitation, also shout to the black ember team on shipping. I pre-ordered this item but it shipped right away and I got it in time for a work trip to try it out a few days later. Pleasant surprise. Great work."
